The Lammerskraal Stud bred and owned Red Ridge scored an impressive win at the Vaal on Thursday.
Trained by Geoff Woodruff, the daughter of Silvano (who was making just her second racetrack appearance) simply outclassed her rivals to win as she liked by three and three quarter lengths.
Red Ridge, who started a hot 9-20 favourite, had previously finished a good third on debut and she looks a smart sort in the making.
She is a half sister to four winners, including G3 Prix Du Cap runner up Red Flame, and her four time winning dam, Forty Fires, is a full sister to multiple G1 winner Set Afire and to Listed Ruffian Stakes winner Aquila Rapax.
This is also the family of G1 winners Nania and Red Ray (like Forty Fires, by Western Winter) as well as G3 Prix Du Cap runner up Vermilion. The latter has a Gimmethegreenlight colt on offer at the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Lammerskraal are proud to offer six high quality yearlings at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale on January 21st and 22nd.
Their draft includes yearlings by such high profile sires as Duke Of Marmalade, Dynasty, Gimmethegreenlight and Master Of My Fate.
