The Lammerskraal Stud bred Bishop’s Bounty impressed when romping to a fluent win in the eThekwini Sprint on Vodacom Durban July day last Saturday.
Trained by Justin Snaith and owned by Michael Leaf, Bishop’s Bounty was steered to victory by July winning jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe, with the pair defying joint top weight of 60kgs and going on to score a 1.75 length win in Saturday’s 1200m contest.
Bishop’s Bounty has now won or placed in 10 of his 11 outings, with Saturday’s victory pushing his earnings to R441 500.
The three-year-old colt was a R1.4 million purchase from the 2015 CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa –Bishop’s Bounty being the joint second top lot sold at that sale.
Bishop’s Bounty is a product of two of Lammerskraal’s finest ever horses, being a son of triple champion sire Western Winter and the late, great broodmare Nacarat, whose five stakes winners include G1 Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray, who stands his first season at Klawervlei Stud this season.
