The Lammerskraal Stud bred and owned In The Dance impressed when making it two wins from as many outings when landing an assessment plate at the Vaal on Thursday in dramatic fashion.
Well ridden by S’Manga Khumalo, the blue blooded 3yo filly, who is trained by Sean Tarry, stormed home from off the pace to land the 1100m race in the dying stages of the race and went on to post a deceptive head victory as the 2-1 favourite.
In The Dance, who had won in eye catching style on debut when romping home by three and a half lengths, certainly has the pedigree to be good. She is a daughter of Varsfontein Stud’s increasingly successful sire Gimmethegreenlight (sire of the stable’s top class filly Green Plains) and former Broodmare Of The Year Akinfeet.
The latter, a daughter of champion sire and multiple champion broodmare sire Fort Wood, has produced eight winners headed by the Summerhill Stud based triple G1 winner and Equus Champion Capetown Noir and the latter’s G3 August Stakes winning full-brother Across The Ice (also trained by Sean).
Akinfeet, who was produced by Fillies Guineas winner Dance Every Dance, is also dam of the smart G3 Victress Stakes runner up Premier Dance.
In 2018, Akinfeet visited Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Visionaire-whose progeny dominate the field for Saturday’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup.
